Alice in Wonderland Part Two

Whilst I was scanning through my photographs to put on my Wonderland post, I came across these little beauties:
Unfortunately I don't know where these came from, and they're from a couple of years ago when the Harvard Referencing System wasn't all too important. I don't think I even knew what it was then. If anybody does know where they originated, let me know! But these images were a huge inspiration to me while designing my outfits.

Alice in Wonderland

Just thought I'd share with you one of my first major projects at college based on the well loved story of Alice in Wonderland. I designed, made and photographed both Alice and Queen of Hearts dresses inspired by Japanese street fashion and designers such as Galliano. Let me know what you think!

Genious In A Little Card Box

Whilst flipping through Decembers Vogue last week, I stumbled across several perfume ads. Not too shocking as it's Christmas, however when peeling back the fold that covered a sample of the new Michael Kors 'Hollywood' fragrance, if I'm honest all I smelt was flowery plastic-y paper. Nice. I thought of what a shame and waste of money this was, on A. not only paying more money to create a sample and fold in the advertisement, and B. to have a triple page spread in Vogue!
However I continued to 'flick' when I came across this little gem, the answer to all fragrance magazine ads:

This was the ad for the Thierry Mugler fragrance 'Alien', and stuck to the bottom right hand side of the page, was this little cardboard sleeve. To be honest, I wasn't sold by the magazine spread itself, bt the fact that a sample was contained in this little box (there's a tab that you pull up, you press down on the bottle, and a sample is sprayed) really sold it to me, as the sample was real, and you could see (or smell) how the fragrance reacted with your skin. In my eyes, this ad was significantly more successful than the Kors fragrance, simply because you can EXPERIENCE it. Anybody want to buy me a bottle for Christmas?

Junya Watanabe

Just a quick post to show one of the projects I've been working on the past 10 weeks - As part of a design development module at University, we were split into groups to research and design for a collection for a conceptual designer. Our group were assigned the designer Junya Watanabe, well known for being a protege to Rei Kawakubo of the Comme Des Garcons brand. Below are just a couple of pages from my research into the designer and customer. Flats and Illustrations coming soon...

Blogging n00b.

Hi!
My name's Hannah, and I'd like to welcome you to my blog 'ISpySwagger'. As a second year Fashion Design student at the University of Leeds, I'm required to create an 'online presence' or portfolio to promote my previous and current work. While putting up examples of my work is good and all, I think a little bit of personality would be a bit more interesting, hence why I'll be posting all things bright and beautiful, whether it be photography, architecture, or something that simply inspires or amazes me. I hope you enjoy what I share with you, and any comments or thoughts are more than welcome. Feel free to have your say!
May the blogging begin!
